how do the Loisels resolve their conflict ?

Rather than telling the truth about the lost necklace, they lie about why they have not returned the necklace quickly.  Then they replace the necklace - which turns out to be simply costume jewelry - with a real diamond necklace which they spend the next ten years paying off.
