The Most Dangerous Game

Why did the author end the story by saying "he had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided"?

I want to know whether or not there is more meaning to this then just him sleeping on a bed did it mean he is taking General Zaroff place or was he just laying there because the was tired from the game?

He was just happy to be alive............... there's nothing better than a comfy bed when you think you'll never sleep in one again.
