how does the setting reinforce rainsford feelings and the texts meaning

I'm not too sure where pg 51 is in your copy. I think though that the fact that the island is a jungle and it is Rainsford being hunted underlines the theme. It is the old hunter being hunted motif that seems to be the point of this story.
