Human vs Nature- There is Rainsford out in the jungle with only the elements. There are traps, quicksand and dangerous animals out there.

Human Versus Human- This, of course, is the most obvious. Rainsford has to outlast Zaroff or die.

Human Versus Himself- This is a thinly veiled theme in the story. Rainsford begins to feel what it might actually be like to be "a beast at bay". He begins to re-think the whole "animals have feelings" talk he had with Whitney. This sort of just passes though; I'm sure he was off blowing holes in tigers once he got of the island.
