Rainsford views hunting as a sport. He doesn't believe that animals have feelings, he believes they merely survive on instinct. Rainsford also believes that animals are meant to be hunted by people.... that hunting is the natural order of things. Whiney, on the other hand, considers the ethical concerns in hunting animals. He believes that animals possess more complex emotions than Rainsford thinks.
