The Monkey's Paw

When the sergeant says "better where you are" to Mr. white after he says he wants to go to India, How is this a way of foreshadowing?

When Mr.White states that he'd like to go to India, Just like Sergeant-major morris, morris tell him "better where you are". In what way may this be a foreshadowing clue?

The Sargeant is telling Mr. White not to look for trouble in exotic places he has no understanding of. This foreshadows Mr. White testing his luck with exotic symbols from these places that he also has no understanding of.
