What does the change in relationship with gregor tell you about Gregor's sister? Significance?

Initially Geregor's sister felt sorry for her brother and cared about him. As time passed, she acted only out of duty. By the end of the story, she becomes busy with her own life and is quite revolted by her brother. This tells us that loyalties are, even family loyalties, and are dependent on circumstance.
