The Metamorphosis

Do you have sympathy for Gregor? If so, why and at what times? If not ,why not?

the question is based off the first chapter of the Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

You have to feel sorry for Gregor to some degree.... he's overworked, responsible for everyone, and feels like he's living in a dead end. To become an insect changes his world.... he is no longer significant, no longer needed.... he's a pest.... and often viewed as repulsive. Feeling sorry for him is easy. His thoughts never change.... he still feels for his family, even as an insect. The problem is that no one, except for Grete in this chapter, really seems to care about him, and that's the real tragedy.
