What draws him out of his room the last night of his life is his sister’s violin playing. Although he had never liked music in his human state, now the notes of the violin attract him surprisingly. Gregor certifies the spirituality by reflecting further that only as an insect (an insect unburdened by human materialism) has he been able to truly appreciate beautiful music—when he was a human being, it had meant nothing to him.
