that won't do .'Od seize it , I must do alittle more than that ,I must though she did always brag about her rich aunt , and her expectations fro 'em -I must send a useful sum of money to her ....etc

Farfrae agrees that Michael letter must be written to the young lady to tell her of the situation, and to let her go. Michael feels that he ows the wife, that he once sold, more than a letter. Even though she might have had a rich aunt, Michael wants to send her money.
