How does marks problem on Mars to the ever growing population and this challenge faced to the American farmer every day?

From the movie..."problem b... I have to be able to live for fifty days. Inside a Rover with marginal life support the size of a small van."

I think you might be referring to the 2015 film. Mark needs to grow enough food to sustain him but the environmental factors on Mars work against him. Similarly, as our natural environment breaks down (global warming, flood, draught, soil degradation), the American farmer finds it harder to grow food.
