How did tortoise manage to get to the sky god's feast

I think this is how it goes:

There was a tortoise who was very cunning but was starving for days. Then he heard that, the Sky Gods are arranging a feast for birds and will be held in the Sky God's castle. ... So he went to the birds and asked them to take him with them. They were kind, so they each gave him their feathers so he could go with them.
