need some help with an essay

i need to write an essay about the "significance of daring to eat a peach".  what does this line mean? why is it important?

As an aging man, he would have difficulty with indigestion and the like; he would be considering whether or not it's worth it to eat a peach now and suffer the consequences later.

"Eating a peach" is also just another example of the endless and pointless, inconsequential decisions he has to consider; like, "parting his hair behind," etc. He considers his "disturbing the universe" to be equally unimportant in the grand scheme.
