How did they use foreshadowing in the story?

how many times did they use it i was asked this and how threy used forshadowing but i cant see how they are using forshadowing

The ending of the story, specifically, the stoning of Tess, is foreshadowed in the very beginning when the young boys are gathering stones and placing them in piles.
