Norma might mean that Junior is free inside like a dancer. Alternatively, she may mean Junior has a particular self-awareness, or he is connected to the ancestors through his spirit. Throughout the stories, dancing is a way for the characters to connect to their American Indian traditions, oftentimes in spite of the effects of their generational trauma.
