Why did everything Edmund had been telling himself (about how the witch was good and kind and that her side was really right) sound silly now?

Edmund had believed everything the witch had told him.... he did so out pride and the belief that he was important. Unfortunately, after learning that her actions were based on purely, evil intent, Edmund had to reconsider. His mistake made him feel foolish.
