Actually, Aslan is a symbol of Christ. He is the son of the Emperor over the Sea is the symbol of God in the world of Narnia. In the Wardrobe novel when Aslan dies and comes to life at the stone table it is Lewis' way of showing what Christ's death and ressurection would be like in the world of Narnia. Lewis is, through story, helping Christians think through the central ideas of their faith. He may also be trying to introduce non-Christians tot he same ideas. I hope this helps.
