How did the children react when they knew that aslan is a lion?

I think they were in awe but not completely surprised given that many of the supporting characters are animals as well.

The children were a little scared and Susan asked Mr beaver if Aslan was dangerous and the answer she got was yes but He wouldn't harm them as they were on the good side
