Baroka wanted to add a new wife, and Sidi's reputation preceeded her, making her the best candidate for the role. Yes, he was fooling her about his manhood.... it was a ploy that lured her into the position where he could take her virginity. Sidi had every intention of spurning the man she thought impotent, of taking the opportunity to publicly unman him. Her plan backfired..... and Boroka's undeniably worked.

Baroka married sidi because she was already more famous that baroka and that she looked beatiful in the magazine. And by taking her virginity, he will not only become more famous than sidi but he will also have a new wife.
