Percy is constantly questioning himself. He is thrust into danger and adventure. He discovers not only that he can handle danger but that he has powers unique to him. This is part of the structure of the heroes’ journey. The hero has doubts about his or her abilities until thrust into a test like the fight with Echidna and the Chimera s. Percy learns that he can rise to the challenge.
