As a school master, Crane is known for discipline and fairness. His students don't love him, but they don't hate him either. The families of Sleepy Hollow house and feed Crane as payment for his services. His salary does not afford him enough money for independence. The men in the village appreciate Crane's help, and the women love his flair for storytelling. On the whole, I'd have to say he is well liked.
