Sohrab's story after being adopted by Amir is a sobering one. He nearly kills himself from sheer inability to assimilate to his new life, and he does not find it appropriate to speak at all to his new parents. It is extremely difficult for Sohrab to overcome the sheer pain and suffering that were brought upon him and his family in Afghanistan--not to mention his new life in America.
