    Compare and contrast Hassan and Amir.

    Both Hassan and Amir had no knowledge of their mother and were brought up by their fathers. However, Hassan seems to be a more simple and pure character who has a childlike innocence. Amir, on the other hand, does not always have the purest of intentions and thoughts. Because the readers are privy to Amir's thoughts, we know that he is a three-dimensional character whose thoughts are not all good and generous. He believes he is entitled to the social superiority that he has over Hassan.
