Um, did you read the novel?
Virtually every character is affected by politics, whether through betrayal as when Amir betrays Hassan, or through power as when Assef gains power through the Taliban despite his sociopathic behaviors.
There are too many characters to list them all, so perhaps if you just list the main ones you are working on in the Kite Runner this post would be better.
