Most of the jungle animals have a very low opinion of the monkeys. Why is this?
The monkeys engage in plenty of behaviors that are likely to annoy someone (throwing excrement at people, kidnapping people for amusement, feeding people to cobras out of boredom, etc.) Students should easily identify reasons why other animals are likely to dislike the monkeys.
On a deeper level, we know the other animals, and the wolves in particular, value law and order, chain of command, and concern for the community over the needs of the individual. These are all things that the monkeys have no regard for.
Were you surprised that the monkeys had no leader? Why or why not?
