Criticism

Though Amy Tan's book has been widely praised by critics, it has also been criticized by noted Asian American author Frank Chin for allegedly perpetuating racist stereotypes.^[1][2][3] Conversely, Chinese-American director Wayne Wang was impressed with the story and managed to create a film version of the novel.^[4]
