What happened between Lena and Arnold, the boy from her neighborhood?

Lena tried to kill Arnold based upon a movie she'd watched about leprosy, something she perceived as people with pock-marked faces. Fearing Armold had leprosy, and was thus conragious, she attempted to kill him.
