The author's use of a narrative presented through stream-of-conscious allows Granny's thoughts to be presented in a spontaneous fashion. As a result, it's almost as if we have access to her thoughts at the moment each one occurs to her, and as readers, we are able to experience what it's is like to be an eighty-year-old woman. This narrative technique enables reader to experience Granny's confusion. In my opinion, the author made an excellent choice.
