Importance of books and reading?

Education is a source of freedom. Sarah is allowed to educate herself because she is free.... her use of that knowledge in order to educate handful leaves her banned from the books she loves. Later, however, her ability to educate Israel's children provides her with joy, and the children with a path to true freedom.
