Equiano portrays the Eboe people as simple and moralisitic. He tells us that they had a democratic government, which was led and decided upon by a council. Gender roles were strict and held in place to keep order among the people. The people themselves placed great importance upon art, music, and cleanliness. Luxury and decadence were frowned upon.
