Why does Gale hate Katniss, now that he thinks Katniss loves Peeta more than she loves him?

Gale doesn't like Katniss right now, and feels totally rejected because of the "star-crossed lovers" thing, and I feel bad for him because he feels totally rejected.

I don't think that Gale ever hated Katniss. He was sad and disappointed that she seems to be choosing Peeta but he never hated her.
