Yes, House of the Spirits is available on DVD and stars Meryl Streep, Jeremy Irons, and Glen Close. It is an excellent film, nut should not substitute required reading of the novel. When teachers are dealing with a novel that's been made into a movie, we're very conscientious about making sure there are questions you can't answer from watching the movie alone. Regardless, this is a great novel. I've only read it once, and that was for enjoyment, It's a bit too involved for my students!
