Allende connects the natural and the spiritual perfertly by incorporating folktales and legends into the text. She presents supernatural events as authentic, seamlessly weaving them into the narration. Clara's ability to move objects is an ordinary occurence, her ability to forsee the future as something completely natural. The ghosts are unexceptional, and the way in which they are accepted, leave the reader with no choice but to accept them as well.
