Arthur Conan Doyle was pretty good at capturing life in the 1800's England. Everything from Holmes's clothes (inspector coat, hat and pipe) to the foggy moors of England to the Victorian lifestyle of the London elite, Doyle gets it right. He is able to really give us a feeling of both the mystery and culture of the times.
