    What does Sherlock mean when he says, “It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but you are a conductor of life”?

    Sherlock says this quote in reference to Dr. Watson. Sherlock is known for his intellectual prowess, particularly his deduction and observation abilities. Dr. Watson does not have similar intellectual abilities, which is why he is not “luminous.” However, as Sherlock states, Dr. Watson’s power is that he is able to help Sherlock make his deductions. In this way, he is a “conductor.” The deductions pass through him and into Sherlock.
