The Hot Zone's outbreak is far less dramatic than that of its loose film adaptation, 1995's "Outbreak," but the film may be useful for students having trouble getting pulled into the inherent drama of the story. Since The Hot Zone is a true story, students should use the internet to research the events presented and their aftermath, as well as the lives of the characters after the events of the book and the developments between Ebola and humankind, including the most recent outbreak in West Africa and the subsequent attempts to create a vaccine.
