Why do u think Bilbo joined the Company?
Do u think he joined because of peer pressure or desire for adventure?

In my opinion, Bilbo buckles and joins the adventure because of Gandalf's urging..... I believe a part of him really wanted to go, but if Gandalf wouldn't have showed up on his doorstep.... he would have opted to stay home.
