The Hobbit

What is a quote from the novel that shows that mythical creatures make the hobbit a good fantasy novel?

I am having trouble finding a quote for my upcoming essay.

Also, if you have any quotes for the unreal setting, powerful symbols (like the sword or ring) and theme of good vs evil with the same making them a good fantasy novel that would be greatly appreciated! :-)

I think it is the way Tolkien handles these characters which make the novel effective. Consider the dragon Smaug. He is not just dangerous nut cunning and full of personality. Smaug knows he is superior to anything and his confidence is so engaging.

"My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail is a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!"
