Corrie nicknamed her home the Beje because it was the Dutch word for extremely tall and narrow homes.

Father and Betsie and Mr. Kan and Willem —even the funny old Beje with its unmatching floor levels and ancient angles.

I see no other evidence for Corrie's naming of the house.
