The phrase "Give me children or else I die" will be echoed throughout the text. Adultery is sanctioned in the name of acquiring children for important men.

Babies for Breakfast is a direct connection with Swift's famous satire Modest Proposal. Where the Genesis quotation is concerned with the absence of children, Swift's quotation references too many kids. Both these ideologies will be juxtaposed in the book.

The third epigraph about stone soup is a little more cryptic. Islamic proverb, suggests that there need be no laws against the obvious. Just as people were not meant to eat stones, people were not meant to obey false rules in the book? Perhaps.
