How does it appeal to the senses? Birthing is always appealing. There's a sense of hope and that future that accompanies the pain......... in this scene you have the support of the other women. Refreshments are served, women join together, and in the there's celebration and joy. But there's also the memory of other children and a feeling of loss for never having been allowed to experience motherhood and always having to wonder what they've missed.
