Does she hate the Commander?

This is difficult to answer. Certainly there is an initial sense of loathing to what she must do. Still Offred knows the Commander wields much power. Offred becomes complacent because of the few perks the Commander gives her. Eventually there does develop a relationship outside the context of her role. Offred seems to have accepted the Commander as an emotional support in her life, “ Without the Commander’s arm to steady me I’m off balance.” So no, she doesn't hate the Commander, the relationship is complicated though.
