Why does Gatsby take Nick and Daisy the long way around his house to the front door instead of just cutting through the back lawn?

Gatsby wants Daisy to get the full view of his house in all its beauty..... the house, the lawns, and the gardens. He wants her to appreciate them in their entirety.... as a whole.

“My house looks well, doesn’t it?” he demanded. “See how the whole front of it catches the light.”
