Tom and Daisy go to Gatsby's party. Why did they find the party loathsome? How did Gatsby measure the success of his party?

Gatsby wanted as many people there as possible having as much fun as possible in as decadent a way as possible. Daisy and Tom find such excess and "lowness" in behavior beneath them, even though they are hardly upstanding, moral American people.
