Daisy is an aristocrat who has lived her whole life among the "old money" people. Gatsby was "new money" that was not as stable as "old money". In the end Daisy shows her true colors as a rather superficial person who wants her lifestyle at any cost. She would rather be with the abusive adulterous Tom than risk losing her lavish lifestyle.
