What excuse did she give her husband for leaving

Myrtle says she never really loved her husband. She thinks that she married beneath her. She says she was partly duped because her George didn't even own his own wedding suit. The whole social class structure theme in this novel is a disturbing mess. Just as Myrtle uses George, Tom used Myrtle.
