What does the author of the novel feels is behind the glitter of the Jazz age in the great gatsby

I believe it would be freedom from war and celebration of life. Things were great in America, soldiers came home, and the American Dream was alive and well. Money, parties, and celebration by the young were what made the freedom and happiness of the Jazz Age what it was. They were the glitter.
