Gatsby should have been able to see the signs that Daisy would not give up her life as Daisy Buchanan for him. Despite Tom's infidelity and abuse, he came from old money and he had control over her. Even by the end of the novel, Gatsby still waits for a call from his Daisy, a call that he would never receive.
