What does Gatsby's behavior reveal about his character?

In Chapter Five, we immediately see Gatsby's lack of self-confidence..... lack of worth. His fortune is a tool, something that garners him friendship (Nick), and something that makes him worthy (Daisy). Gatsby's own insecurities lead him to believe that money makes the man. Thus, he has to accentuate his wealth in anyway he can to attract people. Unfortuantely, he's wrong on both counts. Nick is interested in the man, and Daisy, is of course, dazzled. But neither character will see him any differently as a result of his fortune.
