What are some gaps in The Great Gatsby novel that can be filled?

Please, any idea's on some gaps i can fill for an assessment oral.
Our task is to fill a gap in the novel, in a narrative style of writting.

In chapter 2. Nick is unable to connect the various stages of the party. The time seems condensed and the reader is not privy to exactly how the final conflict of the party takes place. Fitzgerald explains this by saying Nick is just drunk but the reader feels there is something missing.
